Working closely with the eCommerce Manager, and the hotel Sales & Marketing team, PhotoWeb schedules the shoots and allocates a senior photographer. The requirement is the highest quality work, and the number of shots is often well over 50 per hotel. A typical Hilton shoot is 4 or 5 days, and sometimes over a week. Preparation of the rooms is key and every detail of the shot is scrutinized in “Capture One” whilst tethered to the camera. The client very much appreciates being able to view the images on a laptop as they are being taken. This way they can choose their favorites and also spot details in the shot that need extra attention. It is this level of care and professionalism that separates PhotoWeb from their competition. The number of repeat shoots is very high, where the client calls PhotoWeb back to continually update their gallery. PhotoWeb also enjoys lots of recommendations to sister hotels where the Director of Sales, or General Manager has recommended PhotoWeb to a colleague.

Hilton is very aware of the growing demand for quality video on their brand sites, and has been actively recommending that their hotels contract PhotoWeb for a video. By 2022, Video will account for 60% of all internet traffic.
The Hilton Hawaii Waikoloa Village is one such hotel that wanted to showcase both their property and the destination. As well as the full hotel and resort video, PhotoWeb produced “Chapter Videos” which are smaller segments focussing on one aspect of the hotel such as “Food & Beverage” or “Meetings & Events”. PhotoWeb continues to deliver high quality photography and video to Hilton hotels across the globe. As the word spreads about the benefits of improved images and video across their brand sites, and OTA’s, then the demand for PhotoWeb’s services significantly increases year on year, and across all continents.
Hilton sub brands such as Home2 Suites, Embassy Suites, Hampton by Hilton and Homewood Suites have been actively promoting PhotoWeb in 2016 and the start of 2017. New brand photography guidelines have been sent to the hotels by the brand managers and these include information on what areas to photograph, what to include, what angles, and which company they recommend to capture these images. PhotoWeb is the first vendor on the list and offers the most attractive packages.

In 2009, as part of the most ambitious global photographic assignment ever undertaken within the hotel industry, PhotoWeb was commissioned by IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) to photograph 3,500 of its hotels across the Americas…
After reviewing RFPs from 24 international photography vendors, and having providers visit Atlanta to provide in-person proposals, PhotoWeb was unanimously selected by the IHG board.
With hotel research and booking now done almost entirely on the web, the impetus for this unprecedented investment came from research carried out by IHG which showed that high quality photography had a strong positive impact on booking levels.
“Our research has shown that professional, high quality images improve our brand perception and online sales, especially if the images are consistent across all of the properties” said Steve Sickel, IHG Senior Vice President of Distribution and Relationship Marketing. “People expect to be able to make informed comparisons and decisions online, so the most important thing for our potential guests is to be able to see accurate, realistic and high quality photographs of our rooms and facilities, including virtual tours.”
The multi-million dollar contract created a bank of over 100,000 still images and virtual tours. At the conclusion of the 2009 – 2011 brand wide photography project, IHG selected PhotoWeb as their Exclusive Negotiated Vendor for Photography and Video, to ensure both quality and consistency across all brands and regions moving forward.
In 2013 PhotoWeb undertook a new IHG brand project, photographing the top 1,000 performing “All Star” hotels worldwide. By focusing on top performing hotels, IHG maximized their investment in new photography with this project.
Then in early 2016 IHG unveiled a new project – to provide all Crowne Plaza hotels worldwide with new meeting room photography and detailed graphic layouts. To complete this work, PhotoWeb sent its photographers into all 400+ Crowne Plaza hotels in 51 countries, photographing and laser measuring all meeting rooms and event spaces.
From June 2016 to June 2018, PhotoWeb photographers visited all 300+ IHG hotels in China, ensuring that their photography meets brand standards, is up to date, and provides views of every public space and guest room type.
Working with the IHG regional office in APAC, EMEA and the Americas, PhotoWeb continues to produce high photography and video for their hotels around the world. PhotoWeb are not geographically impacted by COVID as they have regional and local photographers.

Regular visits by PhotoWeb to IHG’s offices in Atlanta, and by IHG’s team to PhotoWeb’s headquarters in Colorado allow for a seamless relationship, with the continuing focus on providing IHG’s hotels with the highest quality dynamic content.

According to Project Director David Firestone, Wyndham’s focus is on both improving the quality of photography, and ensuring that it is comprehensive. “Wyndham’s goal is to provide high quality, high resolution photography of every room type and public space across all brands. And with the North American hotels strongly preferring shoots in warm weather (for the best exterior shots), the Wyndham project is busiest during the summer, when we are shooting 450 hotels per month.”
With all images being XMP coded by PhotoWeb, the files automatically appear on each property’s brand site photo page, and are also categorized to appear in appropriate places throughout the site – in areas centered on meetings, guest rooms, or leisure spaces.
PhotoWeb’s close relationship with Wyndham continues to grow. In 2017 a Wyndham project focused on the updates within the Super 8 brand. In late 2019, PhotoWeb photographed 650 La Quinta Inn hotels within a 3 month timeframe. “Nothing is more important that ensuring that our clients’ photography is of the highest quality, and shows off their offerings in the best light” said Project Director David Firestone. “And in line with Wyndhams photo guidelines, we do not prop shots, or use models. People want to see their guest room just as it will look when they arrive. We are keeping it real.”
