Virtual tours; also known as “VRs”, “Matterport” or “360 degree” images enable the guest to step into the hotel in a virtual reality experience. Using the mouse, or headset, the guest can pan around the image, 360 x 360 degrees.
Keeping the client on the hotel web site for longer (site stickiness) is the goal, as it increases the chances of making the booking. If the Virtual tours are high quality, well lit and composed images, then the guest will see how great the rooms look, and want to book, or even upgrade to a higher category room.
In the past, Wedding planners had to fly to a hotel to view the ballrooms, meeting space and guest rooms. Today, they can view all the these rooms from the comfort of their computer, via virtual tours. It saves, time, money, and increases the chances of landing the group bookings.
