The British Museum

One of PhotoWeb’s very first photography projects was for the British Museum in Bloomsbury, London. The project scope involved photographing virtual tours of various galleries within the museum including the Great Lobby, Africa Room, Enlightenment Room, Egypt Rooms, Greek Rooms & the World of Alexander. “I had to photograph all the rooms at night after the museum had closed its doors to the public. It was eerily exciting to be standing amongst these ancient sculptures, with my tripod and camera and the museum to myself” (Andrew Meli, PhotoWeb, President). The British Museum was founded in 1753 and opened its doors in 1759. It was the first national museum to cover all fields of human knowledge, open to visitors from across the world.
